Sr. Manager Enterprise Systems/ERP

Position Summary

Full time position that ca be based in Dallas, TX or Bakersfield, CA.   Desired candidates will have 8-10 years of experience with ERP packages, strategy, planning and implementation (Oracle desired).  This person will be very familiar with and use SQL and relational databases and will be overseeing consultants and technologist.

The role of the Enterprise Systems Senior Manager is to manage and direct the operational environments to ensure efficient service to users and provide for long-term stability and development of capability for the company. The Senior Enterprise System Manager will also plan, control, and direct application development projects, ensuring that they are completed to specification, on time, and to budget. This position has a significant impact in all areas of the company ensuring that mission-critical services and applications are provided in a timely and efficient manner. The position will participate in the continued development and execution of the company’s Enterprise Systems roadmap.

Key Points

  • Design and execution of the ERP framework and project governance
  • Working with key decision-makers including the steering committee, external vendors & partners, and business end users to recommend and implement optimal best practice processes relative to standard ERP functionality
  • Working with the various business units to deliver knowledge transfer and training to strengthen user competence on the new Global ERP technology
  • Ensure there are detailed ERP integration and interface documents in situ relative to systems roadmap
  • Experience in the functional design and development of solutions for core ERP and supporting integration systems (hands on implementation or configuration with P2 Enterprise Upstream and Oracle)
  • Experience managing distributed teams comprised of local and remote resources
  • Participates in troubleshooting complex issues and resolving defects
  • Demonstrated ability to set direction and drive a development team towards deliverables
  • Manage implementation of enhancements, enterprise application solutions and add-ons, including unit tests, integration tests and the user acceptance tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and manage 3rd party vendor relationships and develop suitable integration solutions
  • Solid understanding of software development principles
  • Experience in high volume (transactions) and high-availability systems
  • Ability to conduct formal and informal training and learning sessions
  • Provides accurate estimates to Management for work activities
  • Provide technical thought leadership and be a strong collaborator with domain SMEs, application architects and less senior development teams, and management
  • Adopt new and emerging technologies to provide solutions to company needs
  • Assist in development of project definitions, including: proposals, estimates, planning, schedules and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with both technical and non-technical professionals
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand applications needs, gather requirements, map to existing systems, define new needs and test solutions
  • Propose solutions using applications, business processes or both, to support business growth
  • Provide detailed specifications to the development team for customizations and reporting

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technical Certification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 8-10+ years of experience with one or more ERP packages – strategy, planning and implementation (Oracle desired)
  • 8-10+ years of experience in ERP platform strategy and/or software selections (e.g., requirements definition, TOC analysis)
  • 5+ years’ experience managing teams of consultants and technologists
  • Minimum 5 years of functional ERP experience, with a track record of increasing responsibilities in an established E&P company

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proposal scoping and development in areas such as software selection, ERP fit/gap analysis, and implementations
  • Membership and visibility in relevant professional organizations
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; and in-depth knowledge of project planning methodologies and software development life cycles
  • Working knowledge of Corporate Back-Office, E&P Operations, and Supply Chain processes
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases; working knowledge of data warehousing and Business Intelligence platform tools and BI analysis activities
  • Excellent business systems analysis and project management skills
  • Experience in design and implementation of enterprise applications and systems, including data models and integration
  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and manage change through process development and improvement
  • Exceptionally collaborative, flexible and adaptable when working with various stakeholders
  • Experience in a fast-growing, highly regulated environment; knowledge of compliance standards (SOX, HIPAA, FDA) is highly desirable
