Accountant 2 – oil/gas with BLM & ONRR experience

Accountant 2

Under general supervision, performs a broad range of accounting support activities and assists with complex accounting assignments requiring knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Performs special projects of a complex nature along with heavy use of Oracle applications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts monthly and resolves any reconciling
  • Performs various forms of ad hoc reporting for both internal and external stakeholders; may process routine and non-routine journal entries; may reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare roll forwards as needed; will assist in other
  • Works with BLM and ONRR to maintain all reporting and legal
  • Ensures all Federal and Indian reports are reconciled, and all corrections are completed before issuance of monthly
  • Point of contact for all inquiries, including audits, related to BLM and ONRR and possible field visits to Utah BLM
  • Acts as liaison between the Production and Revenue team as it relates to the BLM and
  • Ensures all Federal and Indian payments are processed and paid on time each
  • Assists with accounting month-end closing
  • Provides payment schedule to treasury for cash management and other
  • Supports ad-hoc account analysis reports as needed (i.e. for management, variance and trend analysis, etc.).
  • Maintains expertise in Regulatory Module to provide necessary information for internal and external financial
  • Performs other duties as

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or


  • 3+ years of previous experience in accounting.
  • Oil and Gas Experience

  • Prior experience using P2-Oracle, Oildex, EnergyLink, and Sharepoint
